Wedding Color Palette: Tangerine Tango, Cockatoo and Starfish (from Pantone’s Spring 2012 colors!)

Hello fellow color lovers! Todays wedding color palette was inspired by Pantone’s Spring 2012 colors. I have chosen tangerine tango (which is going to be seriously big news as it also happens to be Pantone’s color of the year for 2012!), cockatoo and starfish to create a mouthwateringly gorgeous color palette for a fun spring wedding. Pantone describe tangerine tango as a “provocative, enticing juicy orange… a vivacious and appealing refresher to enliven anyone’s outlook this spring”; cockatoo as “a tactile blue-green, sure to make your spirits soar”; and starfish as a “natural neutral”. Now doesn’t that sound like an uplifting combination?! You might not imagine bright, bold orange to be a great color choice for a wedding, but it’s just so energetic and can look fantastic when used for flowers, bridesmaids dresses and throughout table decorations. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute said of this year’s orange: “Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with lots of depth to it. Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

It’s such a fantastic color, I’m definitely going to be wearing anything in tangerine this spring, including lipstick! To see what other colors have made it onto Pantone’s spring 2012 list, check out their fashion color report here.
